Just a quick tip for you today… shared with me from one of my mentors Hiro Boga.

An acupressure spot to press to feel happy + calm.

You can also use on wee ones + teach your kidliwinks how to apply themselves.

By applying firm, steady pressure with your index finger to this point, you will be able to release and move the Chi.

Used to sedate and calm. Relieves depression, melancholia. Grants insight and ability to plan, have vision, and mental, emotional, spiritual flexibility.

We were going to use this point to help Ostara as we weaned from breastfeeding last week, but she hasn’t needed it… it’s been the most easy, gentle, happy, loving transition I could ever imagine!

Instead I’ve been using it to get centered while I work… and it’s perfect, so I thought I’d share it along as a power tip to add to your toolkit!

Why I Resisted Healthy Living For So Long

(Our weekly box of organic veges this morning + me at the ocean a couple of months ago…)

Hola gorgeous hearts,

For so many years, I felt like I lived like I was a brain + soul who just happened to have a body attached. A body that for the most part, I ordered around + ignored.

It never really felt radiant. And I never really stopped to think that what I ate could heal me. I was resisting, big time.

Why was I resisting health?

I was too busy resisting being a “good girl”. I resisted all the years I’d been yelled at about eating my greens when I was a kid (I think I must have associated greens = being controlled). I resisted the years in boarding school when I didn’t get a real choice as to what I ate (overcooked slop #1 or overcooked slop #2?)

There’s so much pain around food. So many unheard emotions. So much memories of being controlled as a kid. Of not being respected, of not getting a choice. And on an energetic level, needing extra comfort, needing a buffer for all that felt hard in my life.

I resisted exercise because I didn’t like being pushed. I didn’t like the fact that sports at school were hard and fast when I’m a much more chilled out bean. I didn’t like that my head held a magnetic appeal for every kind of ball around.

Not to mention, I had no idea WHICH FOODS made me feel good.

In the family + culture I was brought up in, it meant a LOT of wheat, dairy, meat, tasteless vegetables + sugar.

It was only later – much later – that I discovered I was actually intolerant + allergic to many of those things.

When I dropped wheat and gluten, my life felt like a miracle without it.

And eventually I went further and uncovered everything else I was allergic to…

dairy + soy

HEAVENLY. I feel clearer, brighter, with SO much more energy + goodness inside me than ever before.

Raw Radiance

In the meantime I began experimenting with eating more raw (uncooked) foods, after reading so many books + blogs about how incredible people feel after eating in this way.

I did a 10 day total-raw-fest, and was totally amazed at how I felt. I lost extra weight, and my skin felt brighter. I remember staring at my eyes in the mirror noticing how bright blue they were. And that was the first time I noticed that nightly stomach cramps were “normal”. They stopped within a couple of days of eating raw, and that’s when I first cottoned onto the fact that I was eating something that made me sick.

I was convinced that there was something in this whole raw food thang. That it would help people get rid of so many of the foods they were actually intolerant too and didn’t realise it.

I organised my first retreat at the beautiful Ingelara Centre. And I made it a raw food retreat. I figured that while we were doing this mega soul cleansing and rejuvenation, we might as well do it with our bodies as well.

It was a completely amazing retreat… waking up at dawn to hike up the mountain to meditate as the dawn rose… taking on spirit names in the river bed for the retreat weekend… the nightly meditations in the tipi… wandering over the land feeling all the sacred energies + power spots… canoeing out into the middle of the lake with Sone + pretending to draw down the mists of Avalon… there was SO much laughter, SO much deep soul richness, SO many deep lessons + medicine learned.

And as we did it, all these women were detoxing from the food they were eating + suddenly discovering this new way of eating. Even weeks later, I’d be getting messages from them about how changed they were from eating this way, what they had realised they shouldn’t be eating, how they felt now.

It was an extraordinary experience, and I am grateful for it.

I know the shift in life that this way of eating has created for me, and for others.

So I am very honoured to share about it here, and offer the Radiant Goddess program to help more women discover it.

Food can be our medicine. Our healer. Our friend.

It doesn’t have to be our enemy, our pain, our shadow.

It can live in the light, with us. We can find a way of eating that makes every part of us sing. We can find a way of exercising that can make us sing.

It doesn’t have to suck any more. It can be good.

The Top 5 Reasons I Eat The Radiant Goddess Way

1. I don’t feel sick anymore. Tired, lethargic, over-anxious, puffy, sore belly, PMS, cwazy-emotional. All that stopped with this path.

2. As a business owner, I am SMARTER for eating this way. I feel clearer in my head. Brainier. I don’t get 3pm-itis anymore. If I do, I know it can be fixed with pecans.

I remember a particular part in the movie “Fat Sick & Nearly Dead” that really stuck with me. Joe (who the movie is about) is an entrepreneur who has an awful skin condition + heaps of other health issues who cures himself through nutrition – lots of liquedised fruit + vege. And at the end of the film, his assistant says “I’ve never seen him like this. He can make decisions quicker than anyone now. He can see things without being foggy. He’s got so much energy now!”

And that kinda sealed the deal for me. Having this much brain power + clarity created by greens is a definite bonus for me, my productivity, my creativity + my business.

(On an aside: I am a squeeling fan girl of Joe & I think he has a delicious Aussie voice that rivals Crocodile Dundee’s!)

3. I’m less of an emotional mess. Seriously. Food can be SUCH a mood alterer! I know now that you can eat to feel better – you just need to know WHAT to eat!

4. I feel like I was born to be this way. My body a temple. Radiant + shining. Filled with greens, good energy + self love!

How to optimise your life so you SHINE SHINE SHINE from the inside out.

Ready? Let’s GO:

1. Get to sleep earlier.

I’m serious, babycakes. 9:30 is my limit. I need to be all cuddled up between my daughter & husbo every night before then, or else I am toast. Devastatingly tired. Sometimes I think I’ll be a big girl & stay up until midnight. But for the seedy hours I’ve gleaned by cutting sleep, I’ve detracted from my overall wellbeing and radiance.

This mama likes juice. Sleep is what gives it to her.

2. Get a food allergy test.

Our bodies are remarkable thangs. SO individual. SO exquisite.
And SO not able to consume everything that’s in our present diet.
After 30 years of eating a certain way, I got tested.
And found out I was allergic to 80% of the foods I consumed:
gluten, dairy, eggs, almonds, cashews, soy.
I promptly consoled myself by eating a chocolate cheesecake.
And once I got over it, I got to work on cleaning up my diet & eating allergy free.
Eating foods that didn’t make my body sick or clogged up.
Eating foods that made me radiant.
Hands down, best thing I’ve ever done.
Found out what my body didn’t like. And found what it loved instead.

3. Let’s Move Tonight (Share The Spice Of Life, Weeeooo, Weeeeoooo)

If you don’t like sports, don’t dooooooeeeeeeeeeet.
If you hate long walks on the beach, don’t doooooooooeeeet.
If the word “exercise” gives you hives, change the name.

Instead, find movement that lights you up.

Maybe it’s yoga. Tae kwon do. Pois. Hula hooping. Wii-ing. Riding on a pretty blue coaster bike with streamers.

There can be SO much fun. SO many opportunities for blissful movement and joy.

Exercise doesn’t have to suck, you know.

It CAN be fun and good for your spirit too.

4. Shag more.

Best exercise ever.
Whether it’s a team sport or an individual effort, I think it’s the best way to get sweaty EVAH.

Radiant Goddess Recipe :: The Make-You-Feel-Good Choc Banana Split!

I wanted to share with you a SNEAK PEEK of the kind of delicious eating you’ll be doing on the the Radiant Goddess program.

And Imagonna be real with you… I’m especially proud of this one as I invented it a couple of weeks ago + it’s been a roaring success with everyone who has om-nommed on it (including my fussy kid, fussy husbo and easy-to-please parentals-in-law!)

This particular one is perfect as a snack… I have it for afternoon tea or supper!

The Make-You-Feel-Good Choc Banana Split Super Simple Ingredients

  • Bananas
  • Raspberries (frozen or fresh is fine)
  • Pecan halves
  • Carob powder

How To Make

  1. Cut the banana in half lengthwise
  2. Adorn with raspberries + pecans
  3. Sprinkle carob powder over the top
  4. OM NOM NOM NOM

Why it makes you feel SO GOOD:

  1. Bananas contain tryptopha, an amino acid that is converted to serotonin, an inhibiting brain neurotransmitter which makes bananas a calming food. Bananas are high in the B-complex vitamins, which are known to have a calming effect on the nervous system.
  2. Also loaded with potassium, with sounds like potato, but RADDER.
  3. Totally delish AND amazingly nutritious… who knew you could have BOTH hey?

How To Eat To Feel Better

 

Hi gorgeous ones,

Do you ever feel like eating whenever you feel sad, hormonal or emotional?

And then be all “OMG EMOTIONAL EATING! SO BAD!”

Here’s a ridunkulously wild, revolutionary new thought for you:

You don’t have to beat up on yourself for it.

You CAN actually eat to feel better.

Food can be our medicine.

 

How I Changed My Mindset

I remember the moment of the illumination.

I was beating up on myself for being an emotional eater.

And then I realised:

the problem isn’t that I want to eat.

The problem is what I eat when I feel that way.

I find that often when I feel anxious, shaky, emotional or light-headed it’s because I haven’t eaten good quality foods that day… I’ve just skipped along nibbling here and there. So my energy levels will be unbalanced

Just like tonight: I felt skittish and hormonal. At first I tried to write it off as being An Official Cranky Mood (TM), before realising: hang on, I haven’t eaten any good mood-enhancing foods today.

So I grabbed a handful of pecan nuts and a giant mug of herbal tea.

In the space of ten minutes I transformed from a sadcakes-who-wanted-to-spend-the-evening-in-bed to a bubbly yahoo happily burbling along, dancing to The Voice/Australia’s Got Talent/Glee/whatever musically themed show is going onnnn.

From 🙁 to 😀 to 10 minutes.

(Pecans are seratonin-enhancers… just like what depression medication does! Upliftment of the seratonin = awesome!)

Radiant Chia Pudding :: a Radiant Goddess Recipe To Make You Feel Amazing!!!

I wanted to share with you a SNEAK PEEK of one of the deeeeeeelish, divine, nutritious recipes from the Radiant Goddess program.

This particular one is one part breakfast – one part dessert – one part any-time sweet treat that’s ridunkuslously healthy for you.

When to eat Radiant Chia Pudding

  • Breakfast – makes the perfect porridge replacement (especially in summer!)
  • Afternoon snack
  • Instead of dessert
  • Any dang time you have the urge!

Ingredients

  • Shredded coconut
  • Bananas
  • Berries
  • Chia seeds (I use the black and white combo)
  • Carob powder (or cacao powder if you prefer)
  • Honey or agave nectar to sweeten

 

How To Make

  1. Blend half a banana with a cup of water (this makes banana milk… you can also use almond milk instead)
  2. Combine with a tablespoon of carob powder and 1/3 cup of chia seeds
  3. Set aside for 15 minutes or so. The banana milk + chia will combine to make a gel – kinda like tapioca pudding. You can also make it up the night beforehand and pop in the fridge for breakfast.
  4. Stir in coconut. Chop up rest of banana and place banana slices + berries on top. Drizzle agave nectar over top to sweeten.

Why it’s so incredible

  1. Holy guacamole it’s flipping delicious!!!
  2. It’s an instant-energy-pick-me-up.
  3. Chia seeds are amazing little seeds, packed with nutrients, high in omega 3 fatty acids, rich in fiber, and they helps to slow the release of carbs/sugar into the bloodstream (so YAY! no sugar spike! Just wholesome old-fashioned body-nurturing!)
