So I’ve been busy incorporating old treasures into our new home ~

i didn’t want it to disrupt significantly the energy we already have here,

i just wanted to add to it…

it’s been a bit of an emotional move of items, and old energy,

but I am really happy about how things are turning out…

how the old pieces are integrating with our new life.

feel much better too because we went to the rubbish tip and offloaded all the rubbish;

and then took two big bags of stuff to the charity bins.

The living area, kitchen and lounge room are now finished ~ and I’m so happy with how they’ve turned out…

They now have a real “feel” to them instead of just feeling like people living in a rented house.

the lounge room looks so different now… i keep calling it our “ashram room” even though i have no idea what ashram means…

it has a definite middle eastern/asian feel to it ~ all deep reds, maroons, golds…

we draped an old purple sari across the window as a drape, and added two fans to the wall, which i got when I was in malaysia a couple of years ago…

we put chris’ didgeridoo and peruvian flute next to the tv, put in the golden coffee table we put for $15 at a garage sale at home years ago… you can’t really get a “feel” for the room without seeing the draped sari curtains…. but here tis anyway…

the living/dining area sort of feels quite beach house now, which i just adore…

my flower painting fits the vibrancy of the room, as does a purple shawl that I’ve put over the door…

we’ve decided to use our wooden outdoor setting as our dining table for a while, which is fun… meaning the old dining table can be used as an art table by me! hurrah!

the kitchen holds a mishmash of art and found pieces old and new…

on top of the fridge is rather joyful with one of my paintings, and some great photo frames from home… see that cute silver frame with cats and dogs? got that for 5 cents at a closing down sale. i love a good bargain!

the mulberry purple bookcase has now become a miniature art exhibition…

left to right is ~ one of chris’ paintings, a gorgeous purple and pink heart card by emelisa, another spirit people painting by chris, and one of my paintings.

this one is ~ a white candle, a feng shui flute, a stone candle given to me on graduating day from high school, a photo of my beautiful old dog from my teenage years Major Morgan, the most spectacular painting given to me by a girl I was friends with at boarding school ~ Ann Jensen. She was only about 16 at the time. I still adore this painting ~ the magic and the wonder of it all. And the gorgeous gold star was filled with handmade chocolates by Deb at christmas… and i loved the packaging too much to do anything else with it 😉 ~ the chocolates were INCREDIBLE by the way. Filled with love.

And this is our “ode to hawaii” shelf me thinks…

a wooden plaque given to me by one of my host families in malaysia, a drawing by chris, the most sublime turtle given to us by chris’ parents, a ukelele I gave chris one year for christmas, and a painting done by me a few years ago.

so that’s my house at the present moment… still have to integrate and clean up the other rooms after the onslaught of possessions brought on by friday…

today had such a pleasant stroll about though ~ drove to the rubbish tip, and went to Revolve recycling centre while we were there. found a great matisse print while we were there, but chris convinced me to leave it while we looked in other sections.

and we found this mini store inside of the recycling store ~ called “Better Bits” ~ they’d taken all the good items from the recycling centre, cleaned them up, and put them in this groovy little shed. Something that totally appealed to me is that the section was in colours ~ all purple items in purple bookcases, blue on blue tables… of course I gravitated to the blue.

Anyhewsles, we found the most sublime original painting there that we both fell in love with…

for the princely sum of $5. So it is now sitting quite splendidly in our beach themed dining area.

hurrah for treasures!
