The One Thing That Changed My Business

Hola gorgeous hearts!

One of the things that really inspired me (+ still does) when I’m down in the salt mines of my business, trying to work out the next step, is listening to the stories of other business women who’ve been where I am + have had an insight that’s helped them along.

With that in mind, I’ve asked a number of gorgeous, inspired, soulful business women to share their sacred AHA! moment – of the thing that changed their business.

Today’s insight is for all of you who have that awful fear that holds you back – the nasty voice in the back of your head that tells you that you aren’t good enough and have nothing to offer for it.

May it give you the guidance you seek!

Lots of love,

How I Overcame The Fear That I Am Not Enough + Have Nothing To Offer

I joined Leonie Dawson’s Amazing Biz & Life Academy on Tuesday 18th June. I’ve noted the date down in my diary and still vividly remember signing up. I sat on the decision for a looooong time. Leonie would keep popping up in my world, and I felt a growing connection to this hilarious lass with the mouth of an Aussie farmer combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of Oprah. She plain ol’ cracked me up laughing numerous times – seriously, lady-boners? Freakin’ genius!

I got to a point where I could no longer ignore the signs that the Academy was there to guide me. I told my boy

“Hey I know we’re strapped for cash, with two businesses and a house to build and a dog to feed, but I gotta do this babe! $199 is unreal value babeeeee!”.

Immediately I felt a shift in energy. I felt this sense of growing control over my fear. You see, I had this lingering fear that I couldn’t offer any more to the world. That I’m no better than that person. Or that they were already doing it so much better than me. But Leonie taught me to recognise that yes, I do have something to offer this world and that yes, people will pay me for it. And that YES, I deserved to be paid for it.

donkey_clip_art_thumbThe first breakthrough was the wild ol’ donkey ride I had. I read the ‘donkey guide’ before signing up but somehow it just didn’t resonate with me. With the new shift in energy, I started thinking about donkeys. Literally. I’d picture a crazy donkey with a cowboy riding on its back, shooting one-liners in Eddie Murphy’s voice (“I like that boulder. That’s a niceeee boulder”) I had a wild ass to ride girl! (that’s Leonie’s sexual innuendo rubbing off on me…oh did it again).

{Note from Leonie – one of the things I teach in the Academy is that momentum builds momentum and creativity builds more creativity. The sooner you get on a roll, the easier + faster your dreams start coming true. You literally become what you dream of!}

I had this crazy idea for an ecourse. I wanted to help people overcome fear and truly become alive by realigning with their true values. Sure, coaching people one-on-one through the process is far more effective but I wanted to reach more people. I had the idea but it was in my head, not on paper. So, I rode that damn donkey and within 2 weeks of signing up to the Academy, I was sending off the draft to a graphic designer.

I’m no longer paralysed by fear that I’m not good enough

It has now been almost 3 months since I joined the Academy. It has allowed me to connect with inspiring souls, who have motivated and encouraged me to face a fear and share my story of overcoming a disability. I’ve learnt that donkeys can be fun to ride as long as you avoid shiny things (Dearest internet, I love and loathe you). And most importantly, the biggest lesson of all, I’ve learnt to respect myself as an aspiring entrepreneur. I’m miles ahead of where I used to be. No longer am I paralysed with a fear that I don’t bring anything good to the world, particularly in the biz world.

Leonie has taught me to accept and honour who I truly am, and to open my arms to all that I deserve.

I did open my arms and you know what happened in a space of 3 months?

  • I got invited to 2 blogger events
  • I was asked to lead a Bali Retreat next year
  • I lead a workshop for a Golf Victoria girl’s camp
  • I invited 26 inspiring and successful entrepreneurs to contribute to my bonus ALIVE ebook and they all said YES!
  • I also cut back my ‘other’ work to two days
  • I helped my first ever client overcome post-traumatic stress disorder
  • I have found (not gained!) a passion I never knew I had for business and innovation

I’m now only one week away from launching my new ALIVE ecourse. I sense a shift coming that all the hard work I have put in is going to pay off. Not just monetary, but in actually helping people become truly alive.

I KNOW it’s going to be successful. I know because I deserve it and it’s my (first of many) authentic gifts to the world. There is no way I would have done this without Leonie and the Academy.

Serious lady-boner for life right now!
