Oh love,
When I have a weekend coming up, I think to myself:
Ohhhh goodie… I wonder if I can read a whole book or two this weekend!
It feels like a real decadence to start and finish a book in one weekend. I’ve been doing it quite a lot lately… especially since I’ve made myself a bit of a quarterly curriculum, and one of the modules is Female Founder Memoirs.
On the weekend, I ended up bodily inhaling the 400+ page tome that is Jo Malone‘s memoir “My Story.” I wasn’t expecting to read it from start to finish, but it was completely compelling.
Jo‘s childhood was intense – she struggled with school due to dyslexia, grew up in council housing and had parents who struggled with gambling and money management. She left school at 15, became a beauty therapist and went on to start producing her own skincare and perfume products. Eventually she opened her own perfume shop… which went onto become a global brand turning over multi-millions in revenue.
I ended up taking notes as I went along, and thought I’d share them with you.
Can’t wait to hear what you think!
Hope you have a beautiful weekend. I have big plans for it. And by “big plans”, yes I do mean reading another book or two. HA!
Big love,
