The One Thing That Changed My Business

Hola gorgeous hearts!

One of the things that really inspired me (+ still does) when I’m down in the salt mines of my business, trying to work out the next step, is listening to the stories of other business women who’ve been where I am + have had an insight that’s helped them along.

With that in mind, I’ve asked a number of gorgeous, inspired, soulful business women to share their sacred AHA! moment – of the thing that changed their business.

Today’s insight is for anyone who is looking for permission to drop the “shoulds” and just do what feels best for you!

Lots of love,

Leonie

Sacrificing Conformity to the Fire of Creativity

To be successful, in business, in life, in general, you have to be a certain way, right?

You have to fit in, do what others are doing, because they hold the secret, the missing piece of information that was given out at birth. The piece of information that you didn’t get it -maybe you were in the line for creativity and big dreams; but you certainly weren’t in the line marked Key to Success.

That’s how I felt for a very long time. I was working really hard to be like everyone else, to copy what they were doing and the way they were doing it, because surely that was the only way to succeed.

It wasn’t  working though – I just felt wrong. Wrong in who I was, in what I was doing and what I wanted. I kept trying to fit in, to force myself to be like everyone else; but I was miserable and ill.

So chronically ill that I was bed bound for six years with severe ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My body was forcing me to do things differently; but I still wouldn’t listen to it. I pretended I was just like everyone else, acting as if I was capable of the long hours that seemed a requirement of running a business. It made me exhausted. And unhappy.

But I didn’t know how to do anything else.

That was when I discovered The Amazing Biz and Life Academy and my world changed completely. It was thanks to Leonie’s fabulous Riding Wild Donkeys booklet that I started on a path of not only discovering what I wanted from my business; but from my whole life.

I never thought that it was okay to just be me, that it was alright for me to be as I am, how I am, right now. No changes, no upgrades, no personality adjustments. That’s  not what the world was teaching me. I had to be the one to change, right?

Wrong! The number one rule of business that Leonie taught me is that there are no rules. That there are no shoulds, musts or have to’s. All there is is you, you are the greatest gift, the biggest strength and the most wonderful blessing your business can ever and will ever have. You just have to realise that.

Then follow your heart.

Do what feels right, what feels good and brings you joy. It’s all a game, have fun with it. Try something, then try something else. Experiment and see what works for you, because it’s all about you. There is no right and wrong, just right now.

Think about letting go of all the things you’ve been forcing, pretending and acting at.

Just. Let. Go.

If you’re like me then you’ll feel like you can breathe. Finally. That’s what Leonie showed me how to do – to breathe again. Maybe for the first time.

With breathing comes space, clarity and creativity.

So much creativity in fact that I changed up my business not once; but twice. I went from doing virtual vacations for people who were disabled, to an online social life for the house bound and now, I’ve finally given myself permission to follow my creativity all the way and write my first novel.

I used to think art and literature were luxuries, something you fit into your spare time – you know the ten minutes in a day when you weren’t working or exhausted. Leonie helped me to realise that art is sacred and the world needs the thing that makes us come alive and burn with passion.

For me that’s writing and I’m happier than I’ve ever been when I sit down to write. I feel at peace and at the same time so excited to see where this creative journey will take me. I now have faith that whatever comes of it, as long as I allow myself to be me, to trust in myself and the joy I feel, then I can never go wrong.

Thank you so much Leonie for shining the light that leads so many of us to our true paths and setting us ablaze with joy and passion. Together we will light up the world.
