The Leonie Lesson: A Life + Biz Tip That Powered Up My Productivity, Increased my Income and Built My Community

Flashback to 2012: I was talking to a coaching client and she mentioned that she’d gotten some great feedback from Leonie Dawson about her site. I was curious since I hadn’t heard Leonie’s name before this. {I know, I live under a rock in India!}.

So, I tapped my all-knowing friend, Google, and voila, I was drawn into a site that was gorgeously abundant and radiating warmth and positive energy. “Was I in the right place?”, I asked myself.

I was expecting an in-my-face sales page, blog posts that only talked about products I needed to make that elusive 6-figure income and of course, all the bells and whistles that most sites in this niche have.

I checked with my client and yes, it was the right site.

I was in love.

Fast forward to September 2013: My business is flourishing and I am excited about taking it to the next level, you know, the elusive 6-figure level. I’ve invested in some pretty high-profile business courses, including Leonie’s Amazing Biz + Life Academy of course, and I am working with some of the best names in the industry, helping them to create more time in their lives and profits in their businesses with my content and social media offerings.

All the while, being there for my daughter’s tennis tournaments, storytelling sessions and endless pretend play. All the while, planning fun vacations, watching movies and chatting non-stop with my amazingly supportive life and business partner.

Yes, life is good.

This almost dream-like reality could only happen because I learnt me some Leonie Lessons and let me share with you the biggest one, because that ONE thing changed everything about my life. It amped my productivity, increased profitability and best of all, infused my life with peace.

Be a Generous Genie

Yes, when I started being incredibly, insanely generous with what I did, everything just turned on its head.

Whether it was going above and beyond for clients who needed content written and giving them not just the articles but also, beautifully crafted photos to go with the article and give it that special touch.

Whether it was offering not single coaching sessions but well-planned and info-packed one-on-one workshops spanning three sessions and then, giving them call recordings and accountability access for a full 4 weeks after that.

Yes, I gave it all away. I strived to become the generous genie – granter of all the wishes for my gorgeous clients. I charge a fair price. But I give way more than that.

And yes, I learnt that from the lady who walks the talk, herself.

My Leonie Lesson would be incomplete if I don’t mention how important boundaries are for us business-owners.

Setting boundaries can be done even when you’re being the Generous Genie. In fact, it must be done, else you’ll feel ickily {not a real word!} resentful of the demands on your time and resources. Not nice!

I set boundaries on myself when it came to working hours. I set boundaries with my beautiful clients via my welcome email to them which tells them when to email me, when to expect a reply and how to make our working relationship a really happy one. And it works.

Setting boundaries with compassion and consideration for yourself and for others while being over-the-top generous as well is something that I learnt from Leonie and that, my dear friend, changed the way I did business and what my business did for me.
