Hola gorgeous goddess,

It’s Day 13 of 17 Days of ZING. That little thing I’m doing where I meditate everyday for a few minutes each day for 17 days. And you can join me if you like.

I wanted to talk about how to meditate WITH distractions… when you AREN’T sitting in a zen garden with only a lotus flower for company & the soft harmony of peace fairies playing pan pipes for you…

I wanted to talk about meditating when there is noise all around you, when you get interrupted by the dog scratching or your partner wanting to know what you are doing, and the phone rings, and your baby wakes up.

Truth time:

There’s nothing more that pisses me off when I listen to a meditation and it starts:

Get yourself in a place where you won’t be disturbed for the next 30 minutes…

I nearly bust a blood vessel everytime. Here’s a peek into my thought process when I hear it:

IF I COULD DO THAT I WOULDN’T BE IN NEED OF MEDITATION!!! I DON’T KNOW IF I’M GOING TO BE DISTURBED!!! OH GOD! WHAT IF SOMEONE COMES ALONG AND WRECKS MY SERENITY BEFORE I EVEN START???

Gosh I’m so zen.

Anywaysies, not being disturbed would be AWESOME if that happened.

But chances are, the ones who will be interrupted & disturbed during meditation are the ones who need meditation the most.

I’ve devised something very clever.

It’s called

Leonie’s One Step Method To Getting Really, Really Relaxed Even When Distracted

1. Every single time you hear a noise while you are meditating, say to yourself:

Every noise I hear makes me deeper and deeper relaxed.

Every noise I hear takes me deeper into meditation.

And it’s ding dang true. It ding dang works: Note in the meditation below, when things get noisier, I start getting so relaxed I lose control of my neck muscles & nearly fall asleep.

2. If you really need to check on something by opening your eyes, do it. Then just go back into meditation. It’s simple. No meditation is ever wrecked by opening your eyes. If you need to do it, do it.

(Also: if you CAN meditate without distractions for 30 minutes, that’s awesome, do that, you rock. This is providing an option for goddesses who can’t. Because we need ze meditation anyways. Meditation without rules & with plenty’o’distraction is a bazillion times better than no meditation at all.

So… here tis my darling… today’s meditation. Dutily recorded in HRM (High Reality Mode).

Meditate with me if you like.

Beautiful meditation soundtrack provided by scratchy dog, baby waking, hunky partner rescuing baby & playing with her on floor in front of me. SO ohm. I should license it out to meditation CD companies.

Love,
A Real Lifer Zennifying Goddess,
