When Marketing Completely Overwhelms You

Ladies, have you ever put down on your to-do list: market that business today girlfriend! … Yet you had no idea how to go about doing so?

The mere thought of it overwhelmed you?

Or maybe you were like me and you felt pressured to market your business in a certain way?

I feel your pain. Marketing your business can get kind of overwhelming and feel like this impossible task that everyone seems to be better at than you.

I don’t know about you, lovelies, but you see my problem was that I felt like there was only one way to market your business. I felt like every other guru, mentor, or coach was shouting,

“Do it like this, do it MY way or your business will fail!”

Oh dear… What’s a girl to choose? With all the gurus, mentors, and coaches out there – my discernment senses was getting quite the workout.

All I have to say is thank God for Leonie – she is the breath of fresh air I needed, especially since I’m running a one-woman show here and I’ve only started my biz a couple of months ago.

You see, I want to do transformational work and this whole marketing thing was getting in the way.

I was plagued with thoughts that kept me up at night (literally)

should I buy more Facebook ads? Should I sign up for a Pinterest account? Oh, my gosh – my Klout score went down – what will become of me and my business!!?

You can imagine my confusion when I opened the Business Goddess e-course and Leonie had written over a hundred different ways to market your business.

Over a hundred. A hundred. Seriously? This can’t be… or could it? You mean, I’m not a failure if I don’t figure out the “ONE AND ONLY WAY” to market my business?

Oh happy day!

The best part? I didn’t have to do any of them. Or I could do all of them.

I could do whatever felt most authentic to me. I could actually do transformational work and it would be considered marketing.

Leonie enlightened me to the fact that marketing, no matter how you do it, should always be true to you and if it starts feeling like an obligation or dreadful – stop doing that immediately and move on to the thing that makes your soul dance, your spark shine brighter, your eyes light up, and your blood pumping.

Now, I can definitely get down with that!

Honeybuns – fellowshipping, hanging out and being yourself is totally marketing.

Sharing your gift, your joy, your light with the world is how you market yourself because guess what? Your gift, your light, your joy – they all shine through your business.

That’s true marketing. Adding value in your own authentic voice, it’s like icing on a cake, that you made in your dream kitchen, in your dream house .

Breathe. You don’t have to try so hard. People will get it. In their own time.

You will get there. In your own time.

I’m still getting over the paranoia placed by others who I allowed to influence me when I first started.

But, nowadays, thanks to Leonie’s sage biz advice, my to-do list reads a lot differently:

Be you – and share that with the world.

Now YOU go rewrite that to-do list, girlfriend.

You have permission.
