Today’s studio peek is into the creative goddess studio of Danielle LaPorte.
Danielle LaPorte is the creator of WhiteHotTruth.com, which has been called “the best place on-line for kick-ass spirituality.” She is the author of The Fire Starter Sessions: A Digital Experience for Entrepreneurs, an inspirational speaker, former think tank exec, and news show commentator. What do you create?
I broadcast what I’ve heard and felt on my search for creative ecstasy and cash. So…that means I write about personal growth and livelihood. I do that on my site WhiteHotTruth.com. I did that in my digital book, THE FIRE STARTER SESSIONS. I do that on stage, usually in high heels.
Where do you create?
From the heart, filtered through intellect (and vice versa.)
In the bath tub. While I’m driving, typically with some funk cranked very loudly. After I do some mantras.
At my desk, which is white and tidy with an orchid in the corner, by some of my kid’s fantastic vampire drawings, a photo of a bar in Paris, and and image of the Hindu/Buddhist Goddess of Creativity, Saraswati.
When do you create?
Always. With every thought and breathe.
But concentratedly and practically speaking: way too late at night.
Why do you create?
I create because:
I still fear death, and to not create would kill me.
Generosity of creativity is the precursor to euphoria.
It makes me feel real, the Goddess of Me.
It attracts money to me with which I feed myself and people I love in every way possible.
It affords me really delicious perfume.
How has mamahood changed your creativity?
I had a Mama A-ha Moment when my son was a few weeks old. Staring at him in my arms (you know how endlessly you can just look at your baby…) I thought to myself, “If I’m going to teach this kid how to live in integrity, I better up my game.” And in that sacred second, I decided to live my life as an artist. I had no idea what form that would take at the time, or how I’d get there, but that commitment was the beginning of a revolution in my being. Because of my child, I am more devoted to my creativity — so we can both be self-realized and blissy. Sigh.
